ISLAMABAD It is the federal government that has decided to finish the selection process for chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman in two weeks, according to reliable sources ARY News reported on Friday.

The federal government has decided to take all legal and constitutional possibilities for the selection to the position of NAB chairman.

The final decisions were made in an informal session that was chaired by the Premier today. The meeting included Farogh Naseem, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood Fawad Chaudhry and senator Barrister Ali Zafar, attorney general and other.

The Minister of Law and Justice Farogh Naseem provided the constitutional and legal alternatives to PM Imran Khan as well as federal ministers about the new appointment to the NAB’s top job and also to keep the current chairman.

It has been reported that Prime Minister Imran Khan had partly agreed to meet with the opposition leader on names to be considered for the position as NAB chairman.

The majority of session participants have suggested that the premier meet to the leader of opposition about their names as NAB chairman. NAB chairman.

Sources have told ARY News that the current NAB chairman Javed Iqbal continues to carry out his duties until the appointment of a new chairman. Sources further said that JavedIqbal is being considered with the other candidates for to take over the NAB chairmanship.

PM Imran Khan issued a directive to approve non-controversial changes to NAB laws to improve the credibility that the accountable process enjoys.

Sources told us that a session is scheduled for Tuesday of next week to discuss the selection to the position of NAB chairman. The attorneys general and law minister are being asked to approve the amendments to NAB legislation.

The previous day, on September 28 PM Imran Khan led a meeting in which he mulled on a plan for prolonging the tenure of the current National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.

Discussions regarding extension and a new appointment of the chairman NAB was futile, and the session concluded without a final conclusion.

“It was decided that another meeting will be called in the next couple of days to discuss the matter again,” they added, noting the presence of the Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Attorney General Khalid Jawed Khan, Adviser on Accountability Shahzad Akbar, and others were present at the meeting.
